Elyssa Bairstow Barrocas is a compassionate and dedicated therapist. Guided by the core values of social work—particularly service, social justice, and respecting the inherent dignity and worth of every individual—Elyssa approaches therapy with a client-centered, thoughtful, and empathetic style. She is passionate about supporting individuals, couples, and families as they navigate life’s transitions and challenges.
Cultural humility is central to Elyssa’s practice. She prioritizes honoring each client’s unique background, identity, and life experiences. Her approach integrates a variety of evidence-based interventions, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, crisis intervention, motivational interviewing, mindfulness, and grief and loss support.
Elyssa specializes in working with children, adolescents, and adults in young and middle adulthood, including individuals in the perinatal period. She has particular experience supporting those managing anxiety, depression, PTSD or traumatic responses, ADHD, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs), grief, and parents navigating the challenges of family life.
She earned both a Master of Social Work (MSW) and a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree from the University of Alabama and has a strong background in education. She is licensed as an LMSW in both New York and Georgia. Elyssa is also a trained perinatal mental health provider, currently pursuing her Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C) to deepen her expertise in supporting those facing mental health challenges during the perinatal period.
Elyssa is committed to ongoing learning and professional development to provide the highest level of care to her clients. Her therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and rooted in the belief that every individual has the potential for growth, healing, and positive change.
