Psychotherapist
Corina Peguero is passionate about the field of counseling and works hard to create a safe and inviting space for her clients to work on whichever problems they choose to bring into their sessions. When working with Corina, it’s easy to see that she is empathic, nonjudgmental, and compassionate. She believes that the therapeutic relationship is one of the most important factors in treatment, as she believes healing happens when there is a strong therapeutic alliance. Corina’s therapeutic approach is heavily based on person-centered therapy, which allows her clients to take the lead in sessions. This approach facilitates self-discovery, self-acceptance, and provides a space for growth and healing. Corina also draws from different approaches, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and solution-focused therapy.
Corina aims to facilitate an environment to help clients grow in their therapeutic endeavors. She finds deep meaning in showing up in a therapeutic capacity for her clients and to be someone for others who they may have never had. She collaborates with and empowers her clients in order to help them harness or reclaim their inner strength and power.
Corina graduated with a bachelor’s degree in behavioral science from Mercy College and obtained her master of science degree in Mental Health Counseling from Pace University. She provides therapy to adolescents and adults with a range of mental and emotional health problems. Her experiences have involved working with clients who are struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship stressors, work/life stressors, and life transitions. Corina is dedicated to gaining further experience in the mental health field by working with teens and adults from a variety of different cultures. She currently holds a limited permit to practice as a Mental Health Counselor (MHC-LP) in the state of New York.
