Dr. Dawn Ko Mitchell is dedicated to fostering growth, resilience, and healing in her clients. Whether exploring life’s deeper questions or managing relationship challenges, Dr. Mitchell approaches therapy with compassion and collaboration. She integrates evidence-based treatments with an emphasis on the human experience, mindfulness, and relational connection. Her work is grounded in ethical and culturally sensitive practices, ensuring that each client feels seen, heard, and valued. Dr. Mitchell creates a safe, supportive space where individuals, couples, and families can thrive, empowering them to navigate life’s challenges and achieve meaningful growth.

Dr. Mitchell’s approach is influenced by a blend of various therapeutic approaches. She integrates practices such as mindfulness and mind-body approaches to help clients cultivate greater awareness and resilience, while emphasizing meaning-making, personal growth, and self-awareness to foster lasting change. Dr. Mitchell collaborates with clients to create a therapy experience that is deeply personal and one that emphasizes each individual’s unique goals and values. She specializes in the following: anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, grief and loss, relationship and interpersonal issues, communication difficulties, behavioral challenges, and life transitions.

Dr. Mitchell brings a wealth of experience from her work with diverse groups of clients, including military service members, veterans, families, couples, and children. Retired from military service, she served on active duty as an Army Clinical Psychologist, gaining broad experience in both military and civilian settings. Following her military service, Dr. Mitchell has focused on providing support and training for service members and their families, including those within the U.S. Special Operations Command Enterprise. In addition to her work with the military population, she has supported individuals and families across a wide range of needs and settings, both in clinical and hospital environments. Early in her career, Dr. Mitchell worked with children and adolescents on the autism spectrum and with developmental disabilities, tailoring her approach to provide compassionate, individualized care.

Her clinical training includes Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Prolonged Exposure Therapy for PTSD (PE), as well as expertise in humanistic, existential, narrative, and phenomenological frameworks. 

Dr. Mitchell earned a M.A. degree in Psychology from Pepperdine University, and her Master of Arts and doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She also holds an MBA from the University of Miami, reflecting her commitment to lifelong learning and innovation in her professional work.
