Licensed Psychotherapist
Clinical Supervisor
Lauren prioritizes the emotional well-being of her clients by facilitating open, exploratory conversations and collaborating with each of them to reach their therapy goals. Lauren believes that therapy should assist clients in living a life that aligns with their core values in order to build and maintain a sense of fulfillment.
While working with each client, Lauren takes a holistic approach to therapy. She uses a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), trauma-informed therapy, and motivational interviewing to guide clients toward tangible change. Lauren’s clinical approach also involves validating the lived experiences of clients, while encouraging them to achieve a strong sense of identity. She understands that, while the past has shaped all of us and helps to explain who each person is today, she believes that each individual still has the power to choose how their past experiences can help them thrive in the present and the future. Lauren believes that spirituality entails having a secure relationship with one’s self in order to connect with others in a more purposeful manner. Her passion for working with underserved populations has resulted in a strong ability to advocate for her clients’ needs. Lauren is passionate about breaking the stigma of vulnerability and reframing it as a sign of strength. Therefore, she invites her clients to take a step closer to becoming more comfortable with being vulnerable.
Lauren has extensive experience with a diverse group of clients. She previously worked in an inpatient rehabilitation facility, where she provided services to individuals battling substance use disorders. While in this role, Lauren led a women’s therapy group, whereby she helped her clients build peer support and find hope in their seemingly hopeless situations. With the majority of Lauren’s clients having suffered from some type of physical or emotional trauma, she assisted them in processing the memories that they had avoided for many years. She also helped them repair their relationship with loved ones once they were ready to do so. In years prior, Lauren worked as a behaviorist for adults with developmental disabilities. While most of her clients had cognitive limitations, Lauren drew from their diverse strengths in order to help them identify and achieve behavioral and mental health goals. Additionally, she gained experience working with children, during which time she was able to observe the impact of stress, adversity and social exclusion on their behavior and interactions with others.
Lauren is a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) in New York, as well as a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas. She discovered her passion for psychology and human development while she attended the University at Albany, where she obtained both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. She is also a certified grief informed professional who is passionate about educating clients about and guiding them through their experience with grief. Lauren is also a credentialed alcoholism and substance abuse counselor (CASAC), which she earned in an effort to deepen her understanding of treating addictions from an evidence-based perspective.”
