Cultivating Resilience Through Traumatic Experiences (Virtual Support Group)

Traumatic events can impact every aspect of one’s daily life and well-being. Each individual has a unique experience and response to trauma, in addition to personal strengths that have played a role in the ability to endure hardship. This virtual support group aims to provide a safe and nonjudgmental space for individuals who have experienced traumatic events (e.g., physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, witnessing abuse, domestic violence, bullying, being a victim of kidnapping or trafficking, living in an area of war, or prolonged medical treatments, etc.) in their life, with a focus on collective empowerment and community. Group members will have an opportunity to reflect on their personal experiences, connect with others, and identify factors that have helped them endure these events. Utilizing a positive psychology perspective, this group will also explore themes that promote well-being such as post-traumatic growth, mindfulness, and gratitude. In sharing our experiences and supporting one another’s ability to continually show up in our lives, we can cultivate resilience in response to trauma.
